According to Wired.com the US Senate passed a bill on Friday the creates the new cabinet position of "Copyright Czar." The Copyright Czar will be in charge of enforcing intellectual property laws similar to the way the "Drug Czar" (a position created in 1982) is responsible for overseeing the US' "War on Drugs." The legislation also creates an anti-piracy unit within the FBI.

This bill is of course heavily backed by Hollywood, the MPAA, and the RIAA, and opposed by Digital Rights groups.

Shouldn't they be concentrating on bailing out Wall Street (which is actually a very small street, almost an alley) and our tanking economy and put everything else on hold?

Check out the Wired article for the full text as well as user comments.
