Another article brought to you from Maximum PC, MechWarrior 5 might find itself in legal hot water.
Follow the link for the rest.
To summarize, in the 90s the owners of the BattleTech (MechWarrior) franchise ripped some designs from Robotech and Macross among other franchises and got the pants sued off of them. Since then the BattleTech and MechWarrior franchises have changed hands, and recently a new MechWarrior game was announced. But then the owners of Robotech reared their heads again and started sending out cease-and-desist letters to sites hosting media for MW5. So maybe a legal battle is brewing even though it was supposedly already settled in the past.
Some digging on Gamasutra shows that the Robotech rights holders, Harmony Gold, believe that something in the released media for MW5 is infringing on their IP.
All I know is I want mah new mech game!@!! I'm sick of how our legal system lets anyone sue for any reason and get away with it.

But how can someone sue MechWarrior 5 when we know next to nothing about the game? Well, it’s complicated.
