--- I'd Cut Them Off ---
That's right, I would cut them off. That is to say I'd chop off my pinky toes if I was not so very attached to them - also my testicles, just because they're ugly bastards, but again with the attachment issues - and you know there's other reasons why I haven't grabbed the closest thing with a sharp edge and started doing some home brand cosmetic surgery to enhance myself...
Well mostly it's because these ideas for improvements we came up with, well we came up with them at four in the morning down at the pub. The last time I took matters into my own hands and started putting a plan into motion that we came up with while drinking, well lets just say that there are reasons why I've fled to live under the oriental sun.
But I digress. Most of all it's that I have ... well I think I have one level headed friend, what? Yes, it's a she. If I suggested to a bloke friend of mine I'm going to be chopping off my danglers, he would not try and talk sense into me, he'd be rummaging around for some sort of video recording device so he can film it, post it on youtube and ride the waves of e-fame.
Female friend though and you know she talks sense into me, points out that while the boys might be unattractive - and useless for me - I'd probably end up impotent if I lobbed the bastards off. This is good advice, the sort of advice I need lots of the time, along with other stuff like someone telling me pouring lighter fluid on my arms and lighting up isn't a good idea.
Feedback. That's critical, it saves a lot of things, changes a lot of things and keeps a person from permanently mutilating himself in hopes of gaining superpowers. We really appreciate the feedback we get here at Tiberian Dawn just for those reasons, because a major part of this project has been and will continue to be that we really want to give you the best possible experience - so all feedback is considered and changes are made within reason, just so we'll be sure it turns out well.
Lots of previous and ongoing changes are down to the fact that we've heard back from you lot and you've told us what you think. Of course, some numbskull is probably tempted to say we're weak willed or such, but there's a serious difference between being a doormat and doing something right.
Hell, in the end the reason why we're working on this is because we are you. In the sense that we want something awesome to play, we want to re-experience C&C1 and we want it to be as good as possible, so as much as we're doing this for ourselves we're doing it for you too and that's why your feedback is important.
Yeah, lame line. Your feedback is important to us, I've heard that played back to me by the robot at those call-in support centre's more than once. However, I'm no robot! No matter how much I wish I was... I want my superhuman powers, dammit.
Seriously though, if you see something you don't like, if you spot something you're not quite satisfied with or you think might be better if it was done like this or that - then tell us! We're not a bunch of deaf, blind pricks who'll refuse to listen, who'll berate your opinion and tell you to shove off. Honest.
Sign up, start leaving comments and tell us what you want to see.

They think that by cutting me off from the source of my greatness - alcohol - I'll somehow become more productive. They seem to be firmly of the belief that alcohol is somehow to blame for... well lots of stuff, like me being drunk. Well it is, but you wouldn't want to see me sober!
Actually, you wouldn't want to see me at all, fair enough really. I know my manly charms are hard to resist, my drunken manly charms. Those will be gone soon enough though, I'm currently licking the bottom of my last bottle for whatever remnants of bliss there might be on the bottom - yes my tongue does reach that far.
Essentially, I've evolved to the point where I need a constant input of alcohol, it's put through a special set of veins that wrap around my brain cage and cool the place ... otherwise it'll start overheating and then we'll have melted brain on toast. Do you want my melted brains on your hands?! DO YOU!?
Yeah, I get bored writing these sometimes.
A lot, actually. That accounts for all the random bollocks I throw in here.

We start off the actual real news with something on the frown worthy side. We've lost a 3D Artist today - no he's not dead - but still it's a tragic sort of thing. Dexter has been getting too swamped with real life and duties pertaining to it, and won't be able to continue working as a 3D Artist for us any more. He produced such very fine creations as the APC, the Orca and the Nod Recon Bike you saw the in the last blogs, among others.
Dexter will be sorely missed for his talents and of course welcomed back with big wide open arms if he ever feels like coming back, once he has real life sorted out to a tee - not that anyone ever gets it that well sorted out, do we? But still, if he wants it, there'll always be a spot open for him. Also, he's still very welcome as a tester with us - once we get to alpha releases.
Get your handkerchiefs out and wave your teary goodbye's to our good comrade Dexter.
You'll be missed, you bastard.
---
One leaves and another comes in after him, it's really a nice sort of cycle - although one that breaks out fragile little hearts every time. We've had Testudinidae join as, he's an extremely talented bloke, an expert in animation and creating FMVs. This should give you some clue as to what Testudinidae is already working on, you'll fall in love with it once you see it, we've gotten a glimpse of it very much in progress but what this man can do... mind blowing.
So put your hands, feet, and other appendages together for Testudinidae. Brilliant new addition to the team, absolutely superb skill and we're glad to have him on board.
---
You read the spiel at the start? Well what I've got to say related directly to that. Soviet_Deso?s G6 Howitzer, due to popular demand, will be featured in both classic and enhanced mode for the time being but once we get around to it we'll have the original M110 artillery piece in Classic mode and the G6 in Enhanced mode.
Now this might seem like a drastic change, but due to feedback and some internal going on and around about it. We want to keep classic mode true to classic mode and in C&C1 the artillery was the M110 and not the G6.
However, like I said in Enhanced mode you'll get to experience G6 artillery goodness, so the sexy beast will be in game.

RECRUITMENT IS ALWAYS ON AT TIBERIAN DAWN
SIGN UP TODAY, SOLDIER!
You heard the really big letters, we're always looking for new talent here at TibDawn and you might have just what we need - so why are you sitting there instead of getting in contact? You'd be great with us! We've got a brilliant team in place and lots of blokes around who are helpful as hell too. So if you're a 3D Artist looking for pointers on textures, or the other way around, and you want some learning experience - some real stuff - then you should get in contact.
We're looking for skilled individuals in certain fields, of course, but if you're talented in one thing you can also spend time on other areas. Learning experience! Great stuff. Seriously, get in contact or we'll come and maim you.
Currently at Tiberian Dawn we're looking for the following blokes:
...
*thud*
<Duuude007 picks up the keyboard>
Ahem, well. That dull thud you may have noticed was Tocsin passing out in his chair.
Just another sign that he needs to be off the booze.
Tocsin, I now declare you a milk drinker...
Anyways! Where were we? Ah! Recruiting, yes.
With our loss of Dexter, we do have an immediate need for another modeler, to keep up with the demands of, well, Kushan and I. While we would prefer someone who understands how to unwrap and pack the model as well, we have some topnotch crew members who can help teach those who are still learning.
We are also looking for a particular type of concept artist, one who can not only create their own unique pieces, but who can eyeball a piece of art, and create multiple heavy detailed perspectives (front, side, top), which in turn can be used to create fully 3D models, by our modeling team.
Texture artists, yes, we need those people who can see a flat gray model, and envision exactly what it needs, to be incredible enough to test drive. I mean just the other day, Tocsin was telling me how much he would like to see racing stripes on the Mammoth Tank Well, let's just say that aside from his perpetual drunkenness, that?s a big reason why we didn't make him a Texturer.
And finally, Mappers. We couldn't have enough of em. Mappers open the door for us to not only thrive in the Multiplayer aspects of Tiberian Dawn, but also, someday, the Single Player Campaigns. Yes, we really want them to happen, but for that to come true, we need skilled mappers who can bring the quality of their maps to the level of the work that we do with these units. All or none, baby!
---
As our last bit of news, I wanted to take a moment to thank you, the readers of these blogs, in you support of our mod.
We love the feedback you post in the site and in our #TiberianDawn IRC, and we especially appreciate it when you vote for us in Moddb, HERE ^^ You are free to vote once a day per IP address. All of the positive feedback ensures our continued progress, from week to week, even if its still pre-SDK.
So again: Thanks!

--- SPECIAL UPDATE ---
Soviet_Deso has done it again. Remember that unwrapped Harvester image which we taunted you with last week? Well, when we were getting ready to texture this beast, we got down to thinking, how it would be used, once the refinery was ready. This really stumped us, because not only did the way portrayed in C&C1 have any regard to real life physics, the whole contraption relied on some very unrealistic assumptions.
Long story short, we got DamageINC to perform a complete remodel of the harvester, and we couldn't be happier with the results. What shocked us beyond belief, was that Soviet_Deso managed to unwrap? and complete this beauty, practically overnight!

Click HERE to see the Tiberium Harvesters in all their beauty!
This is the latest texture work from Soviet_Deso, and? we couldn't be happier to have him on our team. DamageINC?s updates on the Harvester allow this baby to harvest 15% more efficiently? er, well, he put up a lot from me, tweaking how the arms work, the underside hatch, how the tank is removed? Thanks for the stupendous work, in making this piece possible.
This is what makes all of our work worth it, the sheer kickassitude. Yeah, that's a real word, look it up.
(don't look it up...)
--- Concept Art ---
Okay. You remember Dimitri86?s impressive work on the concept art for the Hand of Nod and the Tiberium Refinery? Well, everything runs on power, right? Gotta get that power from somewhere?
Dimitri86, as usual, gave us his first pile of concept art, in his attempts to persuade us into a more exotic direction:

Focusing back on our goal, he came up with the first design of the basic PP:

After looking at the above image based on the renders in the C&C1 Manual, we decided that the cooling tower was far too puny to be realistic. So we poked and prodded Dimitri86 until he made some variations:
[
With the basic Power Plant finished, we focused on the Advanced Power Plants. Thanks to Dimitri86's ingenuity, we found a design that allowed all 3 to share the same footprint, just like they did in C&C1:

So at first, we thought that the GDI APP could be different than the Nod's, by having a much shorter cooling tower... that didn't work out so well:

So we went back to the drawing board, tweaking all 3 designs. And now... I give you: Dimitri86?s latest, breathtaking concept art:

Our vision of the Power Plant, is that even though the story of Tiberian Dawn proves that the technology, much like the construction and harvesting tech is very much alike, that the two factions have very different views of how their technology will develop. In this montage by Dimitri86, we have the first row showing the shared Power Plant and the Nod Advanced Power Plant. Nod's APP is designed to be consistent with the moderate increase to nuclear technology as portrayed in Tiberian Sun, while GDI's APP represents the Canon notes of its Hybrid between fusion and fission technology. The general design modifications in these are meant to be a nod toward the Tiberian Sun connections, while retaining the fact that these two factions are still very similar, this early in the story.
--- Work In Progress ---
We now have a virtual army (snicker) of unit updates to share with you, and many are well worth the wait.
It has been awhile since you have seen this, yes? Well, the Nod Apache Attack Helicopter has been on the back burner as we worked on some more pressing models, but it has finally been unwrapped by our very own DamageINC. This monster will be certain to mow down any incoming infantrymen, that GDI should send your way.

---
Remember when Tocsin mentioned that we loved feedback? He wasn't kidding. The A-10 Warthog was our very first model, and although it got positive reviews, we have learned much over the past several months, in what really makes a ?quality? unit. I give you, the newly Remodeled, and even unwrapped, A-10 Warthog, again by our lead Modeler, DamageINC!

---
Here is another piece which was put on hold for some priority updates, and now it is ready for its very own paintjob. The MLRS, by Ric, has been tweaked, and fully unwrapped:

---
Boy, all of our modelers have been busy! Yet another piece by Ric, the Medium Tank was another feedback-dependant full-on remodel, and has been unwrapped. She?s ready for her closeup, Mr. Beauregard

---
Last, but certainly not least, we have the SSM Launcher. Based partially on the MLRS design, it only seemed appropriate to give this piece to Ric as well. And boy, did he impress us! This baby is also fully unwrapped, and ready for her textures.

---
--- Music ---
While you were ogling over all of the pretty vehicles, I noticed that Tocsin had woken from his stupor, and promptly ran headfirst into the toilet. Serves him right. Anyways, as soon as he got up, I noticed that he was laying on top his MP3 player, with some interesting songs listed. I figured I'd share them, before he realized I was fiddling with his player.
Here we have it, a new supply of music from NeptuneUK?s computer to your brains. I never get tired of his work.
We do however, have a comment by NeptuneUK, that at least proves that he is human, after all:
Spam away whenever you like, my friend?
On to the music!
[Act on Instinct 2.0 by NeptuneUK]
Full remake of the famous piece by Frank Kleipacki
[Shadow Walker by NeptuneUK]
Ambient track with a twist!
[Systems Down by NeptuneUK]
More C&C style industrialness.
[Peace Through Power (updated) by NeptuneUK]
Updated to be more canon acceptable, with Kane's voice, rather than Slavik's.
I will be sure to have Act on Instinct 2.0 on my media player for ages to come, NeptuneUK?s work is truly amazing.
--- End Notes ---
Whew, being in his shoes writing half this blog, I have a renewed appreciation for everything Tocsin does each week.
Hmm, I think I'm going to go to the bar after this, to have something to drink.
No, Tocsin, you can't come. Drink your milk.
As a recap, Make sure to check out Dimitri86?s latest Power Plant concept art, bask in the glory of DamageINC?s and Soviet_Deso?s Tiberium Harvester, and join us in #TiberianDawn IRC, to tell us what you think!
Sincerely,
Tocsin and Duuude007
