This is the radio command made by tank commanders, as they fire impact rounds from their Abrams Tank.
Its also something you have probably heard numerous times in the past weeks, whenever our Drunken Tocsin was late again on his blog.
But this time, Tocsin was out for the count. Unable to slap him out of delirium, or mash the keyboard over his face to make anything legible, this weekend was made up mostly of Kushan and I playing rock-paper-scissors...
Yeah, as usual, he won. Best 2 out of 3, best 3 out of 5, heck best 51 out of 101... He kept on winning, as I stared blankly, not knowing how he could be right so many times. That meant he got to write this blog... or so I thought...
In pre blog writing celebration, I'm guessing he over-drank himself, and so now I have these two passed out drunken guys, spooning each other on the pool table in the other room (or, rather than their being drunk, they could just be away for longer than expected. Same difference.) [And most likely, still spooning - Ed]
I don't ask questions...
Anyway, This means that, yet again, my limited writing skills are put to the test, and I give you this week's blog! [Limited being the operative word - Ed]
--- NEWS ---
Although this week's blog is relatively small in comparison to previous weeks, rest assured that we are by no means slowing down, we're just a little bit busier than usual this week. Rest assured, things will be back to full swing faster than Tocsin can drink himself unconscious. Better be from milk.
On to the news!
Ackart has been holding out on us. He has just revealed his newest project and it is definitely something to keep an eye on. Ackart is developing a Mod for Armed Assault called "Combat Ops: TD". This mod will be developed in close relation to ours and is essentially TD in an FPS perspective.
Heres a tempting early-alpha stage Screenshot:
We are still recruiting!
That's right folks, we are still recruiting. As of this week, our primary needs lie in these 5 categories:
- Dedicated 3D Modelers
Dedicated Concept & Perspective Artists
We have an excellent modeling team, but we're always looking for more, so if you've got some badass 3DS-max skillz, yo, give us a shout.
Better yet, if you can animate then you're an even more highly valued commodity, so get applying now!
Concept artists and dedicated texturers are in short supply. If you know your way around photoshop or are a bit handy with the ol' pen or stylus, why not put those skills to good use?
And finally, we are still looking for some good mappers. Remember kids, if you want to have those single player missions remade, then remember that we need dedicated mappers to do it!
--- Work In Progress ---
Even though there may not be much to see here, rest assured that our modelers are still working hard on increasing our arsenal with the last few remaining units from TD. Not only that, but we're starting to make progress on our very first building! A landmark event, I'm sure you'll agree.
Dimitri86 and Toniko are still busy drawing up new concept art, hopefully we will have you drooling over their impressive skills with the paintbrush within the next blog or two.
Anyway, we still have something nice to show you people, so please quickly read on!
Soviet_Deso is a machine. NeptuneUK was right on the money when he said that Soviet_Deso had inherited that nickname from him. Now don't worry, I know we normally have lots more to show you, but this is more of a sample of what to expect next week.
I present to you: the Armored Personnel Carrier!
Some of you have noticed a few updates to the site here and there. We're constantly improving it and tweaking it, so well done those of you who noticed a few changes recently
You may have noticed that we now have some images on the front page from last week's blog. These are just for starters and while we build up a nice big gallery of tasty pics, you can expect them to showcase the latest and greatest stuff from us.
You may have also noticed our new ModDB "vote for us" button finished by Blue_Screen.
Anyone, even if unregistered, can support our mod simply by clicking on that nice big button. We're currently number 1 on ModDB, so lets keep it that way!
Voting is restricted to once a day per IP. So if you're bored at work and check the site to see if we've made any updates, feel free to give it a click and help us out just a little. Then go home and do the same thing
Duuude007, with quite some help of Nyerguds, also made us a nice little tech tree.
--- Music ---
That's right, folks, even during a slow week, NeptuneUK just wont stop pumping out music.
This week, his main focus has been specific gameplay elements, such as menus, setting up the mood to our mod in much the way that Frank Klepacki set the mood for C&C1. That's not to say that these artists are little more than clones of each other, NeptuneUK is very respectful of Frank K's work, while adding his own sense of flair and style that are appropriate for the updates we are making to the mod. In other words, we love the bastard.
[Unholy Temple by NeptuneUK]
"Sounds evil! Weird sounding guitar! And features a heavily distorted orchestral bass section! What more do you want in one track?!"
[For the Win! by NeptuneUK]
[FTW (abbreviated) by NeptuneUK]
"Designed with the victory/endgame theme in mind (hence the title ) made to loop (but who stays looking at the stats for over 3 minutes?) Also included, the shortened version, more appropriate to loop in the stats menu."
[Dark Secrets by NeptuneUK]
"An ambient track. The synthesiser is C&C inspired I'm sure it sounds similar to something lol. Whatever, it's dark, atmospheric and broody. " [I'm pretty sure that pretty much anything sounds like something, Neptune - Ed]
[The Mammoth Tank by NeptuneUK]
"GDI inspired ownage track." I can really envision this monster of a tank decimating Nod structures to this theme.
As always, NeptuneUK came through with more impressive work!
Remember, kids, all comments and constructive criticism are welcome, so if you have any suggestions for alternative pieces or if you just want to let NeptuneUK know how much he rocks, feel free to leave him a comment here =)
--- End Notes ---
Well there you have it, another blog down! Let us hope Tocsin recovers soon, so I can spare you from more of my nonsensical speak. [And so you can spare me from having to fix it! Now let me get back to my private beach hut in the Caribbean - Ed]
