-- Generic Announcement -- Posted On 15 Febuary 2008

Well EALA's two RTS teams and their FPS team have been quite busy over the last several months. We had the launch of Tiberium Wars and C&C TV last year, and now its expansion, Kane's Wrath, and Tiberium and Red Alert 3 are all on the way. Yep the near-future will have a lot we can look forward to.

On the local front, Assassin's new computer hardware should be fully assembled and operational soon, after a hardware failure last year. This means more time for CnC Source and Tiberian Sun: Rising from him. Also keep an eye on Tiberian Dawn, they've been working hard behind the scenes and you won't be disappointed with what they have in store.

As for me I'm still the head honcho of news. I've also been slowly adding files to the Download Database and images to the Gallery. I'd like to remind our viewing public that anyone with a registered (and validated) forum account can add their own images to the gallery or to their own personal sub-gallery, but these images will need to be approved by a staff member (no pr0nz!).

Finally, we're always open to applications for staffers to help with maintaining our content. If you think you have what it takes, drop us a line and we'll consider your application.

Until next time,
Keep Sourcin'!

Modding - C&C: Renovatio -- Posted On 1 May 2008

To Top of Page

Have you ever wondered what happened between Red Alert and Tiberian Dawn? Despite what EA may say when they retcon the C&C canon, Westwood Pacific did have ideas for linking Red Alert 1, Red Alert 2, and even Yuri's Revenge to Tiberian Dawn and the rest of the Tiberian universe. One of those ideas, Renegade 2, was canceled by EA. Its spirit however, lives on in the form of C&C: Renovatio, a Tiberium Wars mod that depicts the fall of the Soviets and the Allies, and the rise of the Brotherhood and GDI.

The mod will feature new campaigns, familiar units, new units, new upgrades, new music, and more. Check out some of the Scavenger faction's equipment such as the Refinery, Barracks, Flak Track, and Apocalypse Tank:

Network - Are you picking this up? -- Posted On 25 April 2008

--- Are you picking this up? ---

Today, we at Tiberian Dawn have come full circle.

One year ago today, we began a project to bring this nearly 13 year old game back to life, with artistic and strategic improvements that the original Westwood creators simply could not have envisioned back then.

When we started this, we knew well of the daunting tasks ahead of us, to ressurrect a game that not only brought back fond memories, but blended in new and interesting challenges to bring hardcore gamers into the fold.

Today is a proud day for us, as we have met our first year in the Tiberian Dawn project. In celebration, we are releasing 4 game updates:

This is good you say, but you would expect something a bit more erm... flashy, for our first full year?

Not to worry.

We at Tiberian Dawn, are proud to release our first official Full Motion Video: The Ion Cannon.

Enjoy!

We have many events coming up, so keep your eyes peeled!

Tiberian News - Windows 2000 C&C3 Patch Updated -- Posted On 8 April 2008

To Top of Page

Xenkan has updated his unofficial patch for Tiberium Wars that fixes Windows 2000 incompatibilities. It now supports both Tiberium Wars and Kane's Wrath.

You can grab it here or here. They're both the same file but Kane's Wrath support is reason enough for me to make a new image and download in our Kane's Wrath section.

Renegade - New Gallery Content -- Posted On 6 April 2008

To Top of Page

In the coming weeks and months I will be adding old magazine scans from "back in the day" that review and preview all the old C&C games. This will happen as fast as I can locate and obtain these old magazines. If you, the viewing public, have any of these old articles and access to a color scanner it would be a great help for the C&C archives if you could contact me.

For now I have just added the world exclusive first preview of C&C Renegade from the October 1999 issue of PC Gamer.

The 9 page feature also includes a 2 page interview with Brett Sperry about the history and the (back then) future of Command & Conquer.

Go check it out if some nostalgia suits your fancy.

Network - APRIL 1 UPDATE -- Posted On 1 April 2008

To Top of Page

Today the future of Tiberian Dawn has been announced, some of you may have heard rumors of this, but right now we can reveal what it is.

The team have been has been busy working away on something big for the past few months, that is why there has been no news since December.

This is so big in fact that I have only just been told about it. Heck I thought I was privy to everything that went on in this mod, apparently not, that is how big this thing is. I suppose that thought I was a weak link, an outsider still, well I don’t blame them, if I knew about this I would have gone running off to all the big news sites to show this off!

What is it, well this is the future of the mod, this is what Tiberian Dawn will be like when we are finished. This is in fact the future of gaming. This is what WestWood wanted to make back with the original Command and Conquer. This is the future of the PC.

Watch and behold my brothers, this is Tiberian Dawn!

Community - OMC4 Results (Finally) -- Posted On 18 March 2008

To Top of Page

Do you folks remember this little thing a few months ago called Open Map Competition 4? It was this little contest where mappers were to make maps for Tiberium Wars and submit them to find out who would be top dog. Our very own Assassin was on the panel of judges and now the results are finally coming in!

Well the results are finally coming in and you can finally see and download the maps that were submitted. This edition of the OMC saw a record number of submissions, of which 29 were valid according to the rules. The sheer number of maps, coupled with hardware problems from 2 of the judges, resulted in a 5 month judging period.

So rejoice and be glad for the results are now here!

This is finals week and I have projects that are due so I will be giving this more coverage this weekend when I will also add the OMC4 maps to our Downloads section.

Tiberian News - Tacitus Thursday & Zocom Spotlight -- Posted On 22 Febuary 2008

To Top of Page

In this week's Tacitus Thursday Jim Vessella, Lead Producer on Command & Conquer 3: Kane's Wrath, goes into detail describing the Global Conquest Mode. Here's a random paragraph:

QUOTE (Jim Vessella)
The customizable strike force system allows players to choose any combination of units when designing their armies. Players start by choosing the faction/sub-faction, then pick the specific units and quantities they'd like to have, and conclude by naming the strike force. Creating a portfolio of custom strike forces is a great way to ensure you're ready for all types of engagements.

Also appearing this week is a spotlight for Zocom's Zone Raider, the Femme Fatale of the Zone Troopers, featuring information, screenshots, and concept art.

Cost: $1300
Build Time: 13 seconds
Built From: Barracks
Prerequisites: Technology Center

QUOTE
Zone Raiders are armed with rocket-propelled sonic grenades to clear out encroaching tiberium, and shoulder-mounted missile launchers to deal with potential threats from above.

They have the same abilities and upgrades as their male counterparts.

Also WonderCon is this weekend so sayonara until Monday.

Community - Evo-Gamer Frank Klepacki Interview -- Posted On 15 Febuary 2008

To Top of Page

Our buddy Evo over at Evo-Gamer has secured an interview with music guru Frank Klepacki. Frank works for Petroglyph Games, most recently working on Universe at War: Earth Assault, and was recently nominated for the 5th annual Game Audio Network Guild (G.A.N.G.) Audio Awards.

I was considering doing an interview myself yesterday but Evo beat me to the punchline. Here's a snippet:

QUOTE
Chris - The Universe at War soundtrack has been released for a free download, why did you go down the free route? (More info on the soundtrack.

Frank - We wanted to do a formal release, but couldn’t seem to make any headway going through the proper channels, so we figured in the end that if die-hards will ultimately find a way to extract it from the game, might as well make it free so everyone could enjoy it.

Okay I know you're all dying to know about this one, here's Frank's comment on Red Alert 3:

QUOTE
Chris - Command and Conquer Red Alert 3 has just been announced and I have already seen numerous fans clamouring for you to do the soundtrack, can you comment on this?

Frank - The flood gates opened up on my fan mail right after that announcement.
Regarding RA3, I’ve heard about it just as you have, so I’ve not been contacted. Ultimately EA would have to ask Petroglyph to use me on it, and then it would be up to Petroglyph to allow it. If those things align, you better believe I would score that game, no question!
